DGPT to Host 2nd Annual All-Star Event February 11-13
The Disc Golf Pro Tour will host its second annual All-Star event February 11-13 in Tucson, Arizona. The exhibition event will celebrate the success of the top professionals from the 2021 season and will kick off the 2022 season. The event will be held at the El Conquistador Resort with a temporary course set up on the same property which hosted the 2021 Arizona State Championship.
Kona Panis and Paul McBeth won the inaugural All-Star event in 2021. Panis and McBeth beat out the field of 8 All-Stars in each division in a format that included doubles and singles play to take home the inaugural title. The 2022 iteration of the event will see the fields expand to 12 professionals in each division, with the top 8 determined by 2021 DGPT points and the final 4 in each division decided by a system equally weighting 2021 DGPT points, 2021 DGPT Championship finish, a fan vote held in November, and a media vote. The full All-Star field will be announced soon on the DGPT’s social media platforms, along with the final format details for the 2022 event, which will change from the format played for the 2021 edition.
“We are excited to bring the All-Star event to the Tucson, Arizona area for 2022. We learned a lot from our inaugural event and are looking forward to building on that foundation to make this an event that fans look forward to for years to come. There’s no better way to kick off the 2022 season than by watching the top professionals battle it out in a showcase like All Star Weekend,” said DGPT CEO & Tour Director Jeff Spring.
The 2022 All-Star event will be broadcast on the Disc Golf Network.
